Performex®, LLC Raises $10,000 for Challenged Athletes Foundation®

Performex® helped raise $10,000 for the Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) in the past week. About two thirds of the funding was generated from the Daniel Goleman speaking event at the University of California, Irvine on September 16, 2014 and the remaining portion was donated directly by Performex® to bring the total to $10,000. As event sponsor for the Goleman speaking event, Performex® was given the choice of charities to receive a majority of the proceeds from the event. Performex® CEO Eric Bruce consulted with Össur®, one of their key clients in Orange County who suggested CAF. “We’re pleased to support an organization that makes an impact such as The Challenged Athlete Foundation. Their commitment to helping individuals with physical challenges is an inspiration for all,” said Bruce. Brooke Raasch, Marketing Communications Director for Össur Americas added, “As a long-term partner of both the Challenged Athletes Foundation® and Performex,® Össur® was pleased to bring these first-class organizations together to help adaptive athletes of all abilities pursue a Life Without Limitations.”

The funding will help provide equipment and support for physically challenged individuals across the United States and the world. “The Challenged Athletes Foundation® was honored to be chosen as a benefitting charity of the recent lecture given by Daniel Goleman, Ph.D. at UCI. We were incredibly grateful to the event sponsor, Performex®, and their client Össur®, for selecting us. Their generous donation will provide adaptive sports equipment for people with physical challenges so they can pursue an active and healthy lifestyle,” says Virginia Tinley, Executive Director of the Challenged Athletes Foundation®.

About the Challenged Athletes Foundation

The Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) is a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. Since 1994, more than $55 million has been raised and over 9,500 funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries have been satisfied. Additionally, CAF’s outreach efforts reach another 60,000 individuals each year. Whether it’s a $2,500 grant for a handcycle, helping underwrite a carbon fiber running foot not covered by insurance, or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar challenge, CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, athletic lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
